Bloggers know there are no rules. You can create and write a blog on absolutely anything. If you went to a search engine and typed any keyword you can think of, followed by the word ‘blog’, you’d be sure to find something.
Blogs are great for Google Adsense ™ campaigns but most only make a few cents, not loads of dollars. So what do the most successful Adsense enabled blogs do right?
- Firstly, they have a clearly identified niche. For example an antiques collection site might specialise in antique furniture, or antique clocks, armour or coins for example.
- Post to your blog frequently. Daily is best, three times a week is the least you should be writing. If you can’t write enough content for yourself, consider a ghostwriter to write articles for you.
- Host multiple blogs. If you have a variety of blogs on different sites, you have the opportunity to further increase your revenue.
- Write about something you are passionate about. You can write blogs using all the right keywords, but if you have no interst in your topic, it will show. Not only that, but you’ll lose interest very quickly.
- Try different writing styles. You can try an opinion style, a personal style or factual articles. For example, most of the articles on this site are factual. You can review products in your niche.
- Check out other people ‘s blogs and see if you can discover their readership. Some blogs are open about this.
- Look at the placement and styles of advertising on some of the larger blogs. Check out if they mostly use text or image advertising. Do they use horizontal or vertical banners? Do they put ads inside articles or between them? Where are the ads on their pages? How well blended are the ads to their page (did they customise them to their colours?)
- Become an advertising placement hound. Pay attention when you’re surfing the net. Look at what others do that works for them. Have some fun and experiment. Adsense is completely free to implement on your site or blog and can make you some very nice additional income.
