Can I publish articles on my website that I find on article directories is a question I have been asked quite often. The answer is yes, but there are some things you need to know first.
The big article directories, such as GoArticles.com, EzineArticles.com, ArticleBase.com and ArticleAlley.com, just to name a few of the many, allow you to reprint articles that are published on their site. In fact, the people who write the articles are really hoping you will reprint their work, because it gives them greater exposure and greater publicity.
If you want to publish an article from a directory, check it’s FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) to see what the rules are. Generally it’s fine as long as you include the author bio or resource box. It’s called different things in different sites. If you don’t publish the bio, you are guilty of plagiarism. The author owns the copyright to the material and you are stealing it and can be severely prosecuted if caught.
The positive thing about publishing articles on your website from article directories is that you have high quality, expert content available to you on any specific niche you can think of. You can add a lot of high quality, fresh content to your site by adding another author’s article.
A second option to publishing a particular article from an article directory is to use a RSS feed. Basically, this is dynamic content from the article directory. You can choose to create a RSS feed by a specific author or subject and then choose to display it on your own website. It requires very little coding or HTML knowledge. The article directory will create the code for the feed according to the choices you select, and then you simply copy and paste the code into a page on your website where you want the information to appear.
For example, the RSS code to put my last five article titles with the description and a link to the entire article.
<script src=”http://ezinearticles.com/members/feed2js.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.ezinearticles.com%2Fexpert%2FRebecca_Habel.xml&num=3&desc=-1″ type=”text/javascript”></script>
<noscript>
<a href=”http://ezinearticles.com/members/feed2js.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.ezinearticles.com%2Fexpert%2FRebecca_Habel.xml&num=3&desc=-1″>View RSS feed</a>
</noscript>
The negative about publishing articles on your website from article directories is that the credit is going to another writer, via their bio or resource box. They will have a link to their own site and maybe even to sell products.
The negative elements weighed against against the positive can be quite small however, because you are able to get a lot of very high quality information on your own website just by adding some code to your site.
