Articles alone don’t make money on your website. They are what brings the traffic to you. To make money online, you need good quality affiliate programs for your niche website.
There are several things you need to consider when choosing an affiliate program for your site.
How Closely Related Is The Product?
If you choose a product that is very closely related to your niche, then you have a much better chance of making sales. For example, if you had a site about dogs, then it would make sense to choose affiliates such as dog grooming products, behavioral products, dog toys or dog food. However, if you were to sell fish tanks, you may make very few sales as this is not your niche. Make sure you choose something your niche website visitors would find appealing.
How Well Will The Product Sell?
Before getting over excited about much money you could make from an affiliate program, consider how many sales you could make. One product for $100 will not sell as often as a product for $10. For example, if you sold one product a week for $100, or four products a day for $10, then you will make a lot more from the $10 product. If a high end product is very closely related to your niche, by all means, go ahead and offer it alongside a cheaper alternative. Human nature will mean most customers will choose a mid-priced product.
What Commission Will Be Paid, When And How?
Different companies offer very different commissions. Very well known companies selling a large quantity of products tend to offer very low commissions, as they expect a very high turnover. Smaller, less known companies, or companies offering electronic products often offer much higher commissions. Again, it’s a matter of doing the math and considering which you are more likely to sell to your own particular niche market.
Consider how you will be paid. Is there a minimum that is held back before payout? What payment methods do the company offer? How often do they pay? Do they have a site where you can see exactly what is happening with your sales. Do they pay to your country or in your currency?
Where To Find An Affiliate?
You can choose a large company that represents a lot of affiliate programs, such as Clickbank for electronic programs, or Commission Junction for physical products as well. Alternatively, search online for your niche plus the words “affiliate program” as many companies offer their own programs.
If you research potential affiliate programs with the four criteria shown above, you should find excellent products or services that match your niche market perfectly.
